  • What is "breathwork?"
BREATHWORK involves breathing techniques that exercise the lungs, diaphragm, and circulatory system enough to harmonize one's mind, body and spirit. Controlling the breath and observing its rhythm brings consciousness to stillness. In stillness, all is possible: clarity, truth, acceptance and ease flow effortlessly. Breathwork effectively clears trapped emotion and stagnant energy in the body, which has therapeutic effects on the breather's mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Conscious breathwork is a fast and powerful way to clear blockages and tension in the body, relieve stress, release anxiety, pacify fear by bypassing the mind, and allow the body to self-regulate. Breathwork can radically shift a person's mental, emotional, and physical state in minutes. Great for people struggling with meditation; however, there is WORK involved. As the name suggests BREATH - WORK can be challenging when resistance is met in various forms such as: tension in the body, mental distractions, uncomfortable feelings, or memories that resurface. Know that breathwork is different every time and unfolds naturally, on the body's own timeline. The breather's only job is to relax, release, and allow the body to do the work. It is said that "the breath mirrors reality by flowing effortlessly and deeply, feeding the body full of life force energy" yet the opposite is also true; disconnected breath causes confusion, discord, tension, burdens, limitations, and heaviness. Breathing fully allows people to experience life fully.
  • What style of breathwork do you guide and teach?
Various styles of conscious and transformational breathwork. I like to mix it up! Sessions might include light, color, and other visualizations to help your imagination expand and pineal gland open or adventure. Styles I offer include: - "Yin" style which s slow, deep, grounding, calming, relaxing & receptive (best approach for those with PTSD & trauma) - "Yang" style is more intense, active, energizing & aggressive; builds heat quickly in the body to clear more energetic blockages, with a bulldozing effect (best approach for those looking for radical change and clarity who are ready to release and 3 hours before bedtime). - "Integrative" sessions clear stagnant energy and regulate the nervous system in under 15 min - "Meditative" sessions journey deeper into the subconscious and unearth stuck emotionality and clear old programming in over 15 min
  • What are the side effects and risks?
Positive side effects include: Increased muscle tone Anti-inflammatory effects (epinephrine or adrenalin is released) Elevated mood (people report feelings of "getting high" on oxygen) Increased energy Relaxed logical "thinking" mind full of chaotic chatter (called "money mind") Relieved chronic pain & stress Released trauma, fear & anxiety Oxygen rich blood delivered to the muscles, organs and skin Calm Improved digestion Deeper sleep Strengthened immune system Boosted creativity Deep inner sense of well-being Risks or negative side effects: Nausea (no food or water 2 hours before a session fixes this issue) Overactive breathing Retraumatization (if an old unprocessd memory or feelings rush in and aren't properly tended)
  • What's the difference between in-person and virtual/online sessions?
Both session styles are effective. IN-PERSON sessions are a beautiful way for individuals, couples, families, groups, communities and organizations to connect. This involves a more intimate setting in close proximity to others. Might include hands-on touch (with consent), partner exercises, dancing, and shares at the end of in-person guided sessions. VIRTUAL sessions online work wonderfully for connecting likeminded individuals with a global community at home. Online sessions are guided via Zoom (please download on your laptop or phone) with each breather visible from the waist up to track their breathing. Online is more convenient and comfortable for people regularly. It's helpful to setup your own relaxing space beforehand (see tips below).
  • How do I get started?
BOOK A SESSION of any kind. I'll cover the basics as you get you comfortable with joining. A private session first helps new breathers get a feel for what to expect before, during, and post session; after care is important too. Click the black "BOOK A SESSION" tab and button to: Pick a time & day to book a session online. Note if there's a topic you'd like to address :) Fill out a Medical Waiver online. Email back to bliss@respiritbreathwork.com Review the email & text alert on "Prep your space for breathwork" Avoid eating and drinking water 2 hours before a session. Sips of water are OK but too much water sloshing in the belly makes breathers feel nauseous
  • How do I prepare?
Take 5 minutes to prep your space at home: - wear comfortable clothing - lay on the floor perhaps with a yoga mat beneath you, a couch or bed (I find the floor provides the sturdiest support) - have a blanket within reach (it's common to get hot & cold during breathwork) - have a pillow nearby to cradle under the head or knees for support (some people prefer their legs elevated) - light a candle or diffuser with essential oils for aroma and ambiance - bring an eye mask or dark tank top to cover the eyes (it helps so much, especially for those with light eyes) - have a notepad and pen ready for journaling - bring crystals or stones to help ground and support you (i recommend holding one in each hand or placing one on each thigh under leggings, so they touch your skin) - set an intention: what would you like to focus on, let go of, or step into? - come with an open mind and empty belly (NO FOOD OR WATER 2 HOUR BEFORE)
  • Do you send email or text reminders? I'm unfamiliar with the process.
Yes. I've found most people skip reading emails (myself included), so I send both email and text reminders before sessions. Time must be made/cleared for breathwork sessions. I understand it can be hard to find the time; however, the little time you create will re-energize you and benefit all other areas of life.
  • I'm not tech savvy. Help! What is Zoom?
Zoom is an online video conferencing and cloud meeting group platform. The software is FREE to download (zoom.us/signup). Simply downloads beforehand on a laptop or tablet. Be sure to place the laptop on a chair or table higher up, so I can track everyone's breathing. To login to a session: enter the "Meeting ID" and "Password" sent via email and text. TURN UP THE VOLUME on your laptop so you can hear me. Make sure the "Mute" button to the bottom left is not crossed out :)
  • Who SHOULD practice breathwork?
Everyone. Literally everyone can benefit from exercising their lungs. With the hectic pace of life most Americans and people experience today, it's common to adopt shallow breathing. This is not normal, healthy or beneficial for the body. Most people (myself included) don't breathe fully enough to properly relax and expand the lungs and diaphragm and inevitably leads to disease, tension, stress and heaviness in the body. Additionally, anyone experiencing feelings of worry, fear, shame, guilt, anxiety, stress, heartache, grief, depression and PTSD can benefit from breathwork. Breathwork helps ground individuals in the present reality, awaken heart intelligence, clear confusion, energetic stagnation and reignite love and joy in the heart. It
  • Who should NOT practice breathwork?
People with specific medical conditions are advised NOT to practice breathwork and consult with their physician first for approval: - High blood pressure - Kidney disease - Chronic panic attacks - Asthma (bring an inhaler to the session) Breathwork can result in physiological changes in the body and/or intense physical and emotional release. It is CRUCIAL TO INFORM YOUR BREATHWORK FACILITATOR of any of the following before a session: - Pregnancy - Glaucoma - Detached retina - Cardiovascular disease (previous heart attack or stoke) - Diagnosis of an aneurysm in the brain or abdomen - Uncontrolled thyroid conditions or diabetes - Epilepsy - Prior diagnosis of: bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, - Hospitalization for ANY psychiatric condition or emotional crisis in the last 10 years
  • I know someone struggling this could help. What's the best way to connect them?
Have them reach out by sending me an email or text at 720-556-6185. Taking the initiative to BOOK A SESSION with them can be helpful if someone is shy or unfamiliar with me. This website includes a BOOK A SESSION ONLINE and CONTACT ME page where people can send me their email, phone number and the best times to reach them. I'm happy to share the power of breathwork with those who need it more immediately. I've also found shy friends or family members feel more comfortable being introduced first; or doing a group session together. Whatever you think, based on the individual's personality and openness.
  • What is "energy medicine?" What do energy healing sessions include?
Energy medicine focuses on the energy fields of the body that organize and control the growth and repair of cells, tissue, and organs. Changing impaired energy patterns is an efficient, gentle and non-invasive way to improve the vitality of organs, cells, and psyche. I offer shamanic energy medicine healing sessions specifically, for people/healers/lightworkers looking to clear karma and genetic imprints in their energy field causing stress and dis-ease BEFORE it manifests in the body. The core of this practice is called an illumination. Shamanic energy medicine leverages earth and elemental energies (air, water, fire, rock, sun, moon, stars, the Four Directions) with tools and techniques to move, clear, drain, and draw in higher order information and light to a person's energy field. Sessions upgrade the quality of a person's Luminous Energy Field (LEF) and take 2 - 4 weeks to integrate. This allows the new energy to metabolize and anchor over a half moon to full moon cycle before clients notice a "loosening" or clearing of or around the issue. Deeply rooted issues can take multiple sessions to clear, since they usually affect multiple chakras and organs in the body. For this reason, I recommend the 3 session energy medicine healing package to start and scheduling sessions out in advance. The 3 session package can be used within 6 - 12 weeks with the client coming every 2 - 4 weeks, allowing enough time for new energies to integrate and for things to positively shift in their lives. Clearing negative, heavy, old, toxic energies and karma frees more space, energy and opportunity to GO DEEPER each session with: extractions, soul retrievals, destiny retrievals, rites of passage, installing the Bands of Power, a full chakra illumination, little death or spirit flight. Deeper sessions are where things get juicy and client's lives starts to harmonize, balance and synchronicities begin to occur.
  • Why do you require 3 forms to be signed prior to working with you? This includes a: MEDICAL, LIABILITY, and COVID-19 form. Please download, review, sign and email to bliss@respiritbreathwork.com
The forms help me gauge each person's medical history, knowledge, experience, and comfort level with breathwork. Answers help me know where to begin with new clients and breathers. Because unprocessed memories, emotions and traumas can get activated and rush in during sessions, it's important I be informed of people's MEDICAL & TRAUMA history, so that I can effectively cue and guide the session. By reviewing and signing all 3 forms, new clients will be informed and understand the risks associated with breathwork and energy healing sessions. The definition of "trauma" I refer to is = any situation that was experienced as "too much, too fast, too soon" and either shocked or overwhelmed the person's system enough to leave a strong lasting and often negative imprint. There are many different categories of trauma, and people can experience Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) from nearly anything. Medical Form 2023 only need to be filled out once. Please download, review, fill out and sign the medical form below, prior to your first session. Here's a link:
